In the blossoming spring of March, to celebrate the115th International Women’s Day (March 8th)and enrich the spiritual and cultural lives of all female faculty and students while promoting their physical and mental well-being,Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST)hosted a series of events on March 7th under the theme"Gentle as Spring Breeze, Radiant as Blooming Flowers."
Departments across the university conducted visits to classrooms, laboratories, and offices to express care and extend blessings to female faculty, wishing them health, happiness, and prosperity throughout the year. On the sports field, led byProfessor Wang Xueminfrom the Physical Education Department, participants practicedBaduanjin, a traditional Chinese qigong exercise, under the warm spring breeze. Accompanied by soothing music, the women executed movements blending softness with strength, finding relaxation through motion and savoring the charm of this ancient Chinese fitness art.
Under the guidance of professional instructors, female faculty also enthusiastically engaged intie-dyeing, aUNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)art form. Infusing creativity into their designs, they splashed springtime hues onto canvas bags and round fans. Each unique piece showcased their ingenuity and passion for a vibrant life. Meanwhile, theuniversity hospitalset up a wellness consultation booth, offering health advice and hands-on experiences in crafting herbal sachets for sleep enhancement, energy boosting, and mosquito repellency. Amid laughter and camaraderie, participants learned wellness tips, crafted sachets, left fatigue behind, and carried fragrant reminders of the day home.
Various branch trade unions simultaneously organized additional activities tailored to their contexts, includingfloral arrangement workshopsunder the theme"Blossoming Spring, Fragrant Paths,"慰问活动 (condolence/care visits), and dynamic outdoor sports. This year’s International Women’s Day series not only allowed female faculty and students to unwind and experience traditional culture but also strengthened team cohesion and solidarity.
